This injury marks the first significant injury for Cena in years but marks the first time that the fifteen-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be forced to miss a Wrestlemania in his entire career.
Recently, there has been a lot of talk about John Cena transitioning into Hollywood full-time and slowly leaving WWE behind. Cena has denied this in The New York Times, but that was before he was injured for the next six to nine months. Now suddenly, he’s got at least half a year out of the ring and open to fill with movie roles.
It’s not only about Cena’s momentum in Hollywood. The fact is that he doesn’t need to be fully healed from shoulder surgery to fill movies, but he does to go in the ring at the level he’s accustomed.
It’s a really sad thing to admit, but he was gone for two months, is back for little over a week and then his body gives up on him. He might be done wrestling, and he’s likely never going to have this kind of opportunity in Hollywood again. The next six months is a pivotal time in his life, and he may need to make a big decision.
I’m not saying he’s had his last match, but there is no way John Cena should be wrestling full-time again. He is thirty-eight years old, and he’s just suffered another significant injury.
Every performer is forced to deal with this question eventually. Maybe, it’s the perfect time for John Cena to focus on other ventures full-time and move on in his career.
He’s lived his dream and accomplished more than he ever imagined he would as a kid. It feels like the time to start thinking about that final run. Maybe, it’s time to think about the end of his wrestling career.
