Some things never change.

On the debut episode of “IMPACT” Wrestling on POP TV, former TNA World Heavyweight Champion EC3 regained his title in the main event against Matt Hardy. In a great match between the two competitors, EC3 would finally hit the Super 1%er to win back the title that he held for 101 days.

Hardy won the title in a triple threat match at “Bound for Glory” on October 4, 2015, but relinquished the title after EC3 filed a legal injunction against him, banning him from appearing on TV. The title had been vacant up until tonight, when EC3 won it back in the main event.

This marks the second championship reign for EC3.

It had been previously reported that Matt Hardy has considered making a return to WWE, but in an interview, he said that he happy where he is in TNA. There has also been reports that his brother, Jeff, has strongly considered making a WWE return as well.

Editor’s Note:

I think this is a good thing for all parties involved. EC3 is an incredible worker, and has the potential to be a star in TNA for a very long time. And I think everyone would love to see the Hardy Boyz reunite in WWE for one final run, and keep Matt Hardy out of the World Title picture is a perfect way to allow this to occur.
