We all woke up this morning to some ground breaking news that not only is SmackDown moving to Tuesday nights starting July 19th, it will also be airing live twenty-four hours after Monday Night Raw every week.
As if that wasn’t enough to chew on, it was also announced that this change in WWE programming is going to lead to a brand split between Raw and SmackDown and there will be two different rosters and shows.
The brand split means many things, and most of them are extremely exciting. However, all of this change brings up the current storyline that is happening on WWE television between Shane and Stephanie McMahon.
Since “Payback”, they’ve been working together to run Raw every week, but Stephanie clearly had plans to make take back the power and control of WWE. She’s just waiting for the right time to strike, and it is assumed that Triple H will play a major role in that storyline.
The only question is how that was going to work because the rumors of a potential brand split were still circulating the storyline. Today’s news makes it crystal clear that there will be some kind of separation of brands in the McMahon struggle for power over the next few months.

Obviously, one McMahon will take Raw, and the other will take SmackDown. That’s going to be very interesting to see develop, but there are many more questions surrounding the brand split that need to be answered too.
How would you structure WWE’s brand split?
