Here's Why Alexa Bliss Won the Raw Women's Championship Back

At Money in the Bank, the Raw Women’s Title Match between Ronda Rousey and Nia Jax was denied a conclusion due to Alexa Bliss’ interference. Miss. Money in the Bank didn’t waste any time cashing in her briefcase to become the new Raw Women’s Champion for the third time in her career. Apparently, it’s what WWE officials had planned all along.

It was rumored heading into the event that Natalya would be winning the briefcase and would cash-in on Rousey after she defeated Jax. However, PWInsider has reported that WWE officials didn’t want Bliss to have a long run with the briefcase like Carmella just had, so the plan was for her to cash-in, win the title, and have the babyfaces chase her.

It was announced on Raw last night that Nia Jax will receive her rematch with Bliss at Extreme Rules next month. WWE also ran a suspension angle with Rousey to keep her off television for the next 30 days. Obviously, the plan is for Bliss to defeat Jax and then move into a much bigger rivalry with Ronda Rousey at the biggest party of the summer.

On paper, Bliss vs. Rousey is a great match for Summerslam. All due respect to Nia Jax, but she was on a major babyface run until the feud with Rousey. She made it work, but it really hurt her momentum and character. Bliss is an establish heel on Raw, and Alexa will have an easier time feuding with Rousey to make her a much stronger babyface.

Obviously, it’s logical for Ronda Rousey to walk out of Brooklyn with the Raw Women’s Championship. Bliss is a great heel and the perfect foil to keep pushing Ronda’s buttons over the next month until her return. Simply put, WWE officials made a great decision.
