The “Stunt Double” gimmick that Damien Sandow made famous was meant to be a joke. It’s very unlikely that anyone in WWE expected that gimmick to become as big and beloved by the WWE Universe as it did.
The culmination of the gimmick and his run occurred at Wrestlemania 31 during the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Although Sandow lost the match, his face turn against The Miz was one of the biggest moments of the entire night and will go down as the biggest moment of Damien Sandow’s career.
It’s been over a year since that moment, but people are still clamoring for Sandow. The proof of that is the support he’s received since his release for WWE and the outrage many fans have for WWE wasting his talent.
However, there is some good news. Over the weekend, Sandow brought back the “stunt double” gimmick when he appeared for Maryland Championship Wrestling over the weekend.
Sandow teamed with Colt Cabana, Bruiser and Johnny “Crab Cakes” Minadakis against the team of King Ryan McBride, Ken Dixon, Dixon Line Security, and Justin Schlegal in an 8-man tag team match.
During the match, Sandow acted as a stunt double for Colt Cabana. You can see the full match below:
