According to the rumors over the weekend, Austin Aries missed an NXT live event over the weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana where he was scheduled to face off against Hideo Itami.

On paper, Aries vs. Itami sounds like a great time for an NXT fan, so you can understand why the rumors spread when “The Greatest Man That Ever Lived” wasn’t on the card.

The fact is that “the card is always subject to change.” Of course, there can be situations where a performer no shows an event and potentially blows up the entire card.

However, Austin Aries is a fifteen-year veteran of the industry who has wrestled in almost every single wrestling promotion you can think of in this industry. It’s very unlikely that he missed an NXT live event.

Once he got word about the rumors that he “didn’t show up,” Austin Aries felt the need to respond over Twitter with the following list of statements:

There you have it. On NXT programming, Austin Aries just turned heel and is expected to feud with No Way Jose through NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II. There is also the possibility of him being drafted tonight.
