Tonight’s match between AJ Styles and Chris Jericho could be remembered as a great gem of a match that will get overshadowed by some of the bigger moments of Wrestlemania.
Recently, Styles spoke with Mike Jones of DC101 to promote Wrestlemania tonight and had a lot to say about his debut at the “Royal Rumble,” tonight’s show, and what it has been like to work with Y2J.
You can watch the full interview right here. Below are the highlights:
What did he think about his “Royal Rumble” debut?
“I remember telling Triple H, “Hey, number 2 sounds pretty good to me!” Because I would love to have that entrance and he goes, “hey, you’re going out number 3.” Oh, that’s great, that’s cool. And the way they did it, where Rusev got eliminated pretty quickly, I had the stage all to myself. You couldn’t ask for a better debut.”
What has it been like working with Chris Jericho?
“Jericho and I are very much alike. Went through the same roads to get where we’re at, wrestled all over the world. Jericho says he is the best in the world at what he does and you can’t really disagree with him, the guy’s been there, done that. I’m just happy to get in the ring with him and happy to have the opportunity at Wrestlemania!”
Is The Phenomenal One ready for Wrestlemania?
“I saw it (the set) being built, which is unbelievable. But just to sit in the stands and just see how huge AT&T Stadium is, that’s unbelievable. And the fact that there will be people packed in there like sardines… Oh man, that’s exciting!”
Do you think Jericho vs. Styles will steal the show tonight?
