4) Utilizing Undervalued Former WWE Talents
A lot of the chagrin and complaining of WWE’s product comes from the lack of faith, trust or development of specific WWE talents. Performers like Alberto Del Rio are released because of backstage politics. Others such as John Morrision are vastly underutilized despite being over with the crowd and consistently great in-ring work.
Lucha Undeground utilizes their style and skills and puts a lot of former WWE guys in the spotlight they deserve. After his firing, Alberto Del RIo returned to AAA, became it’s champion and moved onto Lucha Underground and was transformed into Alberto El Patron. He immediately became a major face. John Morrison became Johnny Mundo and was one of it’s top stars from day one.
Utilizing shunned and former WWE talents allows the Lucha Underground product to be familiar, yet fresh because these are new faces that are underdeveloped on any other promotion. You’ll even catch wrestlers on former seasons of Tough Enough show up in The Temple and become big name for Lucha Underground.
