The Global Cruiserweight Series WWE is planning for this summer is starting to take shape. Over the past week, WWE had announced the following names will be part of the series:
- Rich Swann
- Zack Sabre Jr.
- Tommaso Ciampa
- Noam Dar
- Johnny Gargano
- Ho Ho Lun
- Akira Tozawa
According to Wrestlezone.com, there is a rumor going around that WWE is close to signing Lucha Underground star and Indy star Ricochet, who performs in LU as Prince Puma.
There is another rumor that WWE may have already signed a deal with Kota Ibushi to be a part of the Global Cruiserweight Series and maybe be a part of NXT after the series is over.
Ibushi appeared on camera at NXT Takeover: Dallas, which has led to the speculation that he will be a part of the WWE Network series at minimum or could be signing exclusively for NXT. Nothing has been confirmed, and it may have just been a nice appearance for the debut of Shinsuke Nakamura.
For Ricochet (Prince Puma), it’s being said that he has a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave Lucha Underground after the third season. At the last set of Lucha Underground TV tapings, Puma was booked in a manner that would make it simple for him to be written off the show.
It looks like we will have a much better idea of their status over the next week and the Global Cruiserweight Series doesn’t begin airing until July. A lot can happen between now and then.
