4. “Rock Taught Me to Be Selfish”
When you hear him speak, Lesnar comes off as a very down to Earth man. He comes off as a genuine person. Now, if that means he’s genuinely upset, angry or happy is a different story. Point being that Lesnar comes off like a guy who would help you move if you’re his friend.
Listening to Brock talk about his early days in the wrestling business and how he’d like to think his success hasn’t changed his overall persona. He noted that eventually, it’s the people that begin to treat you differently.
Lesnar also revealed it was The Rock at Summerslam 2002 that made him realize that to make it in the wrestling business; you have to be selfish. What’s ironic is The Rock giving Lesnar the strap for young and doing the most unselfish thing is what made Brock realize that selfish was good.
Later on in the conversation, Brock talks about how he became so burnt out on the business after two years because of his rapid rise to the top and that he didn’t like the person he was becoming invokes sympathy out of the listener. The Wrestlemania 20 situation becomes a lot more understandable after listening to Brock talk about it.
