Fans can make a difference. Earlier this week, WWE announced the first ever Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal for “Wrestlemania XXXIV”. The announcement created some very sudden backlash from fans, who brought up Moolah’s history of less than positive actions outside the ring. For once, the complaints actually lead to a change.

So much for this.

The Fabulous Moolah Battle Royal to debut at WrestleMania 34

In a statement released by WWE, the Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal will now be known as the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal. According to Wrestlinginc.com, the final straw seemed to be Snickers, a major WWE and Wrestlemania sponsor, taking issue with the name due to fan backlash and wanting it to be changed. The original name is still listed on WWE.com, but that is likely to be changed very soon.

Opinion: If there was one way to change this, it would have been a sponsor intervening. At the end of the day, you don’t want to anger the people who are paying you and that’s where WWE drew the line. The more generic name will be fine and WWE can just ignore the Fabulous Moolah stuff mentioned on Monday. This was a mistake by WWE but it’s nice to see them actually changing things for once.

This could be a better option for a name.
