Granddaddy’s home. You’ve likely heard of Wrestlemania, but if you’re a newer fan there’s a good chance that you haven’t heard of Starrcade. This was WCW’s top show of the year and pre-dated Wrestlemania by two years (under the NWA banner that is). We haven’t seen one since 2000 but that seems ready to change.

According to WWE.com, Starrcade will be returning to Greensboro, North Carolina (the sight of the first two events) on Saturday November 25 as a “Smackdown Live” house show. The show will feature two cage matches and appearances by Ricky Steamboat and the Rock N Roll Express. At the moment there is no word about the show being filmed or broadcast live on the WWE Network.

Here’s the current card:

WWE Championship Steel Cage Match
Jinder Mahal vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

SmackDown Women’s Championship Steel Cage Match
Natalya vs. Charlotte Flair

United States Championship Triple Threat Match
AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin vs. Rusev

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Texas Tornado Match

The New Day vs. The Usos

Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens

Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler

Breezango vs Aiden English & Mike Kanellis w/ Maria Kanellis

Here’s a quick look at what Starrcade was like:

Opinion: While I’m glad the name is being brought back and I LOVE them holding it in Greensboro, I really could go for this being a pay per view instead of a house show. I get that WWE must crush WCW’s legacy every chance they get (it’s only been sixteen and a half years after all) but it seems a bit unnecessary in this case.

Do you like this show being added to the schedule? What other shows would you like to see brought back? Let us know in the comments below.
