Someone has to do things in the dark. The Superstar Shakeup shook up a bunch of the superstars and now the question is how things fall into place. WWE has a lot of spots to fill and some of them aren’t going to be on television. Getting the night started is an an important part of the show, as is wrapping the evening up. With fresh talent on the rosters, WWE filled in those spots a little differently this week.
According to Wrestlinginc.com, WWE ran a pair of dark matches at this week’s SmackDown Live taping, with one coming before the show and another coming after it went off the air. Before the show, Heavy Machinery defeated the B Team. After the show was over, Roman Reigns defeated Randy Orton via DQ when Elias interfered. Finn Balor came out for the save to end the show.
That wasn’t the only time Reigns and Elias got physical this week. Check out their brawl on SmackDown Live:
Opinion: Heavy Machinery is about as perfect of a choice as you’re going to get for a pre-show dark match as they’re a fun team that can get the crowd off on the right foot. The post show match seems to be setting up something, though I’m not sure they’ll have Orton vs. Balor anytime soon. It would be a fresh match though, which is something that WWE can use a lot more of at the moment.
