They weren’t done yet. AEW has done well in its still fairly short lifespan and a lot of that is built around its television shows. The company offers two television shows a week, with Dynamite and Rampage, which are taped on the same night. That is quite a bit of wrestling to have in one night, not even counting the Dark: Elevation taping. This week though, there was something extra for the live fans.
Kenny Omega made a surprise return to AEW TV this week, serving as the Young Bucks’ mystery partner in the AEW Trios Tag Team Title tournament. This was Omega’s first match since December 2021 as he missed over eight months dealing with a variety of injuries. Following the match, Omega got on the microphone and said that while he was very banged up, he and the Bucks were alive in the tournament. Omega went on to say that while they might be part of the reason he is in the shape he is in and he may resent them on TV, he appreciates them very much, assuming what he said never gets aired.
He had something to say. Check out what Omega said after the show:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes a show feel special for the live crowd, even though it is always going to be shared everywhere since everyone has a camera on them these days. That being said, it makes sense for Omega to mention that things might be a bit different on television, especially if this is going to lead to another Elite storyline, which is what seems to be coming. At least Omega is back though, as he was a big missing piece for AEW.
