There He Is: Long Awaited Return On AEW Dynamite

Welcome back. There are a lot of interesting ways to bring back a wrestler and some of them can make for some exciting moments. Sometimes you see a wrestler’s return advertised in advance but other times it is a surprise. Then there is the occasional case where a wrestler is not advertised as returning but everyone knows what is going on anyway. The latter seemed to take place this week.

This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured the return of Kenny Omega, who teamed with the Young Bucks to defeat La Faccion Ingobernable in the first round of the AEW Trios Tag Team Title Tournament. This was Omega’s first match since December 2, 2021, as he had been out of action while taking care of a variety of injuries. Omega wrestled the match in a compression shirt and shoulder brace.

Opinion: I don’t think there was any secret to the fact that Omega was going to be the mystery partner and that isn’t the worst thing. Omega was teased for a long time and now he is back for the tournament and to do whatever he is going to do with the Elite. He looked rusty, but what were you expecting from someone who has been on the shelf for the better part of a year?
