Maybe not so fast. As you might remember, Vince McMahon was considering airing independent promotions on the WWE Network. That was the case last week at least but things might have already changed. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McMahon isn’t so sure now after the results of a WWE Network survey suggested that the Network’s audience isn’t that interested in the idea.

The main issue would be the cost of airing these shows live. If there is not significant increase in revenue as a result of airing the new shows, there isn’t much of a reason to air them live. This is the same thinking that could lead to fewer pay per views in 2017 as the extra shows from late 2016 didn’t lead to a major rise in WWE Network subscribers.

I hope these shows do go forward as the idea of a one stop shop for everything in wrestling is an interesting concept for the WWE Network. The promotions that might air there won’t hurt WWE in the slightest and it could draw in some people from outside audiences. Naturally if the idea costs too much money it’s not worth it but it would be fun to imagine.

Would you like to see outside promotions on the WWE Network? If so which ones? Let us know in the comments below.
