Mini tournament time. Last month at “Takeover: WarGames”, Andrade Cien Almas shocked NXT by defeating Drew McIntyre to become the new NXT Champion. While that should signal a rematch for McIntyre, he injured his bicep and will be out of action for several months. Therefore, we need a new #1 contender so let’s throw it to the boss.

In a new video on WWE’s YouTube channel, NXT General Manager William Regal has announced a series of four singles matches with the winners facing off in a fatal four way. The winner of that match will challenge Almas for the NXT Title at “Takeover: Philly”. Here are the four announced matches:

Kassius Ohno vs. Velveteen Dream
Aleister Black vs. Adam Cole
Killian Dane vs. Trent Seven
Roderick Strong vs. Lars Sullivan

The other point of note here is that this set of matches goes completely against what was taped earlier this week. You can read the taping results here here (contains SPOILERS), which saw this same type of series taped, albeit with a name not on this list being crowned #1 contender. There is no word on what would have caused the switch, though there is the chance that something will change on “NXT” to get us back to what was taped.

William Regal makes huge announcement for TakeOver: Philadelphia: Exclusive, Dec. 1, 2017

Opinion: That’s quite the lineup and offers some interesting potential challengers for Almas. On paper, Black would be a likely challenger but Strong wouldn’t be a big surprise either. You really could go almost any way with these names, though some are a lot more likely than others.

Who do you see getting the title shot? Who do you want to see face Almas? Let us know in the comments below.
