History has been made! There are so many titles in the wrestling world today and that means you need to keep them moving around from time to time, just for the sake of keeping things fresh. Sometimes a promotion needs to come up with a different way to change things up, which is what took place this Thursday, as a surprise title change went down.
Rhino and Joe Doering won the Impact Wrestling Tag Team Titles during this week’s edition of Impact Wrestling. The win came after the team of FinJuice retained the titles by defeating Ace Austin and Madman Fulton, but Rhino cashed in his Call Your Shot Trophy, which he won at Bound For Glory. The win marks the first Tag Team Title for both, as well as Rhino’s first title in the promotion since 2005.
This was a little wacky. Check out how the title change went down:
Opinion: Every now and then you see something like this happen and it makes for a pretty cool moment. That is what Impact Wrestling seemed to be going for here, but the nice thing was that they set it up well. Rather than pointing out that Rhino had the trophy, they treated it like something he just had and allowed fans to forget about it. That’s a lot better than beating fans over the head with the concept, which is what tends to happen far too often elsewhere.
What did you think of the title change? How long will they hold the titles? Let us know in the comments below.
