I don’t see this going well. Authority figures have been a thing in wrestling for a rather long time now. They serve an important role in the wrestling world as you need someone to help guide the story from time to time. That is not going to be the case every single week, but when they make their appearances, they should have quite the impact. That was the case this week.
There are a lot of authority figures in wrestling today and the best one very well may be NXT’s William Regal. After having been on the job for several years now, Regal has figured out the finer points by rarely being on television for more than a few moments at a time and making his appearances matter. Now though, things might get even more serious going forward.
This elevated things. Check out what happened after NXT:
WWE has posted a video from after this week’s NXT went off the air, showing Adam Cole punching Regal before being taken away by security. The show ended with Cole and Kyle O’Reilly signing a contract for their match at Takeover. O’Reilly then got in the ring and wanted to fight so Cole came to the ring as well, with security holding him back. Cole punched a security guard and Regal before being taken away by security.
Opinion: This interests me for a few reasons, including what we saw in the clip. The other thing to remember is the Cole/Shawn Michaels staredown during the show. I’m not sure where this is leading, but Cole feuding with the extensively talented NXT management could be rather interesting. I’m curious to see where this is going and we could be in for something good.
