Call it a tryout. We are less than ten days away from Tables, Ladders and Chairs and WWE has only started to set up the card. Over the last two days, WWE has added three matches to the show as they seemed to suddenly remember that something needed to be done. This included a Universal Championship match with a surprise challenger, and apparently they’re getting in some practice.

This week on SmackDown, the Miz was announced as the challenger to Bray Wyatt’s Universal Title at Tables, Ladders and Chairs. The match was originally scheduled to see Daniel Bryan challenging but an attack at Wyatt’s hands seems to have taken him out. Then Wyatt targeted Miz’s family, setting up the new title match. They got off on the right foot later in the night.

The Miz and Wyatt, as the Fiend, faced off in the post SmackDown dark match with the Universal Title on the line. Wyatt retained the title after kicking out of the Skull Crushing Finale and applying the Mandible Claw to defeat Miz. At the moment, it is not clear which incarnation of Wyatt will be facing Miz, as the graphic showed the regular Wyatt rather than the Fiend. It would be Wyatt’s first match in over a year if he did not wrestle as the Fiend.

It was another red light special. Check out the dark match and how the feud was started:

Opinion: This was a fine enough way to keep the bigger story of Wyatt vs. Bryan fresh. There would be no need to have them do the match twice in a row so let things be built up for a bit as we head towards the Royal Rumble. I’m not sure how well that is going to go, but it is nice to do something other than the same thing in back to back months. It’s not like Miz losing is going to hurt him that much anyway.

How will Miz vs. Wyatt go? Which version of Wyatt should appear? Let us know in the comments below.
