VIDEO: Longtime Villain Turns Hero This Week On SmackDown

He changed. There are certain wrestlers who feel destined to be either a hero or a villain throughout their careers. It can seem almost impossible to see them change to the other side but sometimes it feels like a perfect fit when a change actually happens. We saw something similar this week as a longtime heel has turned to the other side, but it is not off to a great start.

This week’s SmackDown saw Baron Corbin return to the main roster for the first time in nearly a year. Corbin also wrestled as a babyface, being cheered by the fans and high fiving them on the way to the ring. This marks one of the only times that Corbin has wrestled as a babyface in WWE. Corbin went on to lose the match to Hayes via a small package, eliminating him from the tournament.

Opinion: I could see this working out for Corbin, who has gained something of a new lease on life during his time in NXT. The fans seem to like him that much more now, if nothing else because he hasn’t been around on the big shows in a good while. If he is able to keep this kind of popularity going, it’s certainly worth seeing what WWE can get out of him in such a role.
