Here we go again. Back in 2001, the WWF launched the XFL, which turned out to be one of the most remarkable failures in entertainment history. It turned out that wrestling and football didn’t mix but for some reason no one figured that out on the way in. Now though, it seems that history may be repeating itself, which almost has to be the definition of insanity.

According to Wrestlinginc.com, Vince McMahon has recently sold 3.34 million shares of WWE stock, worth approximately $100 million. This money is likely to be used to finance the return of the XFL at some point in the future. McMahon’s new Alpha Entertainment organization has recently filed various XFL related trademarks. As for WWE, McMahon still owns over 82% of the voting stoock.

What was the XFL?

What was the XFL?

Opinion: Egads they’re really doing this again. I know it’s a bit different this time around with the WWE’s money not actually being involved but does anyone actually see this going well? Who in the world is thinking there needs to be more low level football around? Apparently McMahon does and that’s not likely to be a good thing.

What do you think of the potential return of the XFL? Will it be successful? Let us know in the comments below.
