According to Dave Meltzer on “Wrestling Observer Radio” by way of Sportskeeda.com, WWE is making sure Sheamus has a lighter workload to allow him more time to rehab. This includes Sheamus taking fewer bumps and working in six man tags rather than singles or regular tag matches, thereby allowing him less time in the ring. There is no word on if Sheamus will have to take extended time off, or what this would mean for the Raw Tag Team Titles.
Here’s Sheamus’ most recent major match.

Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose - Raw Tag Team Title Match: Raw, Dec. 4, 2017
Opinion: I really hope this isn’t the end for Sheamus but it’s looking more and more likely. This is a rather serious injury and Sheamus, who turns forty years old in January, isn’t getting any younger. He’s wrestled a very hard hitting style for years and it’s no surprise that he has a horrible condition like this. Maybe he can bounce back from it but at the moment, things aren’t looking great.
