Madison Square Honor? Back in the territory days, it was unthinkable for a wrestling promotion to invade another company’s area. To do so would be an act of war, which is why Vince McMahon taking the WWF national was such a revolutionary idea. Now that WWE is by far and away the biggest promotion in the world, the territory system is long gone. However, there is one place left that is sacred ground and it’s being invaded at a rapid pace.
According to PWInsider.com by way of 411mania.com, the WrestleMania 35 weekend Ring of Honor/New Japan supershow at Madison Square Garden has sold over 12,000 tickets during the pre-sale. The remainder of the tickets go on sale to the public on Friday and the remainder are expected to sell out as well. This is the first non-WWE wrestling event in the arena in nearly sixty years.
Bully Ray is very pleased.

Opinion: Good for them. Ring of Honor is in a weird place where it’s too big to be considered an independent promotion but still feels like one a lot of the time. They have their own network, they have some top names, their wrestling and television are good and now they’re running the world’s most famous arena. That’s a great place to be in and if things go well, who knows how far they can get? I know they’re not going to catch WWE, nor should they try to, but they can establish themselves as the kings of everything else and that’s not a bad place to be.
