Glad to see you’re sticking around. It is an interesting time in the wrestling world at the moment with a bunch of different things going on at the same time. The biggest change has been the rise of AEW, which is offering wrestling fans an alternative that they have not had in a long time. It is also giving the wrestlers themselves a new option as there is now a major company with a lot of money to spend. That has changed the way things work in the wrestling industry, but WWE is not quite done yet.

As announced on this week’s edition of WWE Backstage, a pair of talents have signed new, multiple year deals with WWE. First up was the Miz, who has been with WWE since 2004 and has won nearly every title available in WWE. He has also starred on the Miz and Mrs. reality show with his wife Maryse and is rumored to be feuding with the Fiend over the Universal Title before the end of the year. There is no word on how long his new deal will last.

Miz has been busy as of late. Check out a surprise guest on MizTV:

Tommaso Ciampa crashes the “Miz TV” set: SmackDown, Nov. 1, 2019

The other name to sign a new deal was Paige, though the length of her deal is not known either. Paige was forced to retire from in-ring competition last year due to a severe neck injury. She missed over a year of in-ring action due to another neck injury and was in danger of a much more severe injury should she continue to wrestle. Paige was the first ever NXT Women’s Champion and went on to win the Divas Title on her first night on the main roster on April 7, 2014.

It was a great moment. Check out Paige’s debut on Monday Night Raw:

Opinion: I don’t know if these two would be the big moves that could give AEW or some other company the big boost that they need in their battles against WWE, but it is good for WWE to keep them around. Paige is no longer allowed to wrestle and Miz is a case where it is hard to imagine him wrestling anywhere else. Some people are very happy in WWE and are going to be there forever, which certainly seems to be the case with Miz. Paige may be a different case, but her health status is going to keep certain things from being a possibility.

Are these good moves for WWE? Who else do you think will stick around? Let us know in the comments below.
