Starting from scratch. Since its start back in May, AEW has done a good job of presenting itself as something different. The company has tried to be more of a professional sports league than sports entertainment and it has worked pretty well so far. One of the biggest differences has been the focus on wins and losses, with AEW keeping track of both and even having them displayed on the wrestlers’ entrance graphics. However, those numbers may be changing in a big hurry in the near future.
AEW Vice President Nick Jackson was recently asked by a fan on Twitter about how AEW will find a way to book around situations where win/loss records become a problem. The company has been adamant about the idea that wins and losses will determine title shots and their weekly rankings. Jackson responded, saying that the records will eventually be reset. When asked for a timetable on when such a change would take place, Jackson went on to say that it would likely be in January.

Jackson might not like his ranking. Check out one of his biggest matches in AEW:
Opinion: This is something that makes sense for AEW as eventually the losses are going to pile up so much that it is going to take forever to get them out of it. Every major sport does the same thing every off season but since wrestling doesn’t have one, they only have so many options to pick from. Just having wins and losses makes things different, but at some point you have to find a way around the problems they can create. This is as good as anything else and it’s a good sign that they realized this.
