Mark your calendars. Roman Reigns has been Universal Champion for just shy of two years and there is a chance that he could hold the title for a log longer to come. Reigns has cleaned out the list of available challengers and very few wrestlers are realistic threats to take the title from him. Some new stars might help things out a bit and that is the case again with a returning name. However, there is the matter of when the match will take place.
Last week on SmackDown, Karrion Kross made a surprise return to WWE and stared Reigns down. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Reigns is currently not scheduled for October’s Extreme Rules event. If WWE is planning the match, it would have to take place at either Survivor Series in November or on an upcoming episode of SmackDown. Reigns is currently scheduled to defend against Drew McIntyre at Clash At The Castle on September 4 and Kross is not expected to be added to the match.
Opinion: This is a bit of a weird way to go, but Reigns defending on television would not be the strangest thing to see. That is how they did his match against Riddle and it certainly felt like a bit deal. Any Reigns match is special these days as he is so far and away bigger than almost anyone else on the roster. Kross vs. Reigns could be interesting, but it might be awhile before we get there.
