A future blast from the past. Any wrestler who is a regular on television is going to be known for something in one way or another. It might be the way they work in the ring, a catchphrase, a signature move or something else. All of them at least have a name though, which sets them apart better than anything else. Those names are occasionally changed for one reason or another, and that is the case again.
This week on AEW Dynamite, a mixed tag was announced for this week’s edition of Rampage. The match will see Dante Martin team up with Sky Blue to face Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo, whose name has been changed from Tay Conti. This comes after Melo and Guevara were married over the weekend, with Melo dropping her former married name of Conti and returning to her maiden name.
Opinion: This is a change for Melo, but her first name has not changed and it shouldn’t mean much of a difference for her on-screen role. It also helps that it comes after she was married, so at least it isn’t some strange corporate move from AEW. What matters is that Guevara and Melo will be a solid pairing in AEW and that should make for a heck of a future for both of them.
What do you think of Melo’s time in AEW? What should be next for her? Let us know in the comments below.
