There’s A Spot: “Mystery Slot” Reportedly Set For WrestleMania 40

One more? WrestleMania 40 is less than a week away and that means there are very few spots left to fill in on the card. With most of the matches already made, the remaining places on the show are coming at a premium, though WWE has a tendency to bring in some special names for certain roles. Now it seems that they are doing that again, though we aren’t quite sure who.

Earlier this week, the Rock attacked Cody Rhodes and left him bleeding to end Monday Night Raw. This included a moment where a production truck featuring images of Steve Austin and John Cena was prominently displayed. A rumor began circulating that those faces were shown on purpose, but Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter said he was told to not look into that for the main events. However, Meltzer also said that there was a “mystery slot” on WrestleMania. It is not clear if this is for Cena or anyone else in particular, or what it might be for on the show.

Opinion: I don’t think it’s any secret that there are certain surprises that take place at WrestleMania every so often. You will occasionally see someone pop up out of nowhere and it can make for a heck of a moment. That very well may be the case again with an important name this year, as WWE certainly likes to put an emphasis on its legends for such a milestone show.
