That’s why. The 2024 WWE Draft has come and gone and while there are still a few more days for changes to be made official, we are pretty much done with the majority of the roster adjustments. The main changes involved Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, but NXT is a part of WWE as well. There were only so many changes involving NXT and now we know a bit more about why.

Between the main two nights of the Draft and the two supplemental sessions, seven stars were called up to the main roster from NXT, but no one was moved from the main roster to NXT. According to Fightful by way of Wrestlingnews.co, this was done to avoid wrestlers feeling they had been demoted, as well as trying to avoid complications between NXT and main roster contracts. WWE is expected to continue having main roster stars appear in NXT in cameo appearances, as they have done for the last year plus.

Opinion: This does make sense, though it would have been nice to see NXT treated as an equal brand. That being said, there would be headaches that come with wrestlers being moved from one roster to the other and WWE probably wanted to avoid those issues. Thankfully NXT will be getting some fresh talent here or there, as those stars showing up has done some very good things for NXT.
