I don’t think this is the best surprise in the world. Sunday’s Fastlane pay per view wasn’t the biggest show ever, but at least they did a few things that stood out. There was good action up and down the card and some of the stories helped set up future WrestleMania matches. One of those moments came after the opening match and the story took no time picking up again on Tuesday.
This week on SmackDown Live, Shane McMahon announced that he would be facing former tag team partner the Miz at WrestleMania 35. This comes after McMahon turned on Miz on Sunday and attacked him in front of his father. The move marked the first time McMahon has been a heel in WWE in over ten years and his fourth singles match at WrestleMania since returning to WWE in 2016.
It started badly. Check out how we got to this match:
Opinion: You knew this was coming and while there are about a dozen names who could be better options for this spot than McMahon, it’s good that they just got the match announcement out of the way in a hurry. The angle was well set up on Sunday and McMahon is going to get booed, but WWE has to make the fans cheer Miz, which is a different story.
