What could have been. This week’s edition of SmackDown was a special Throwback version, featuring a look back at some of the better moments in the show’s history. That was the main theme of the night, but there were other things that needed to be done. Several other wrestlers still needed some focus of their own, but one of the modern stars did not get his mention.
According to PWInsider.com, Aleister Black was scheduled to have a vignette during this week’s edition of SmackDown but it was removed due to time constraints. While it is not specifically clear what caused the show to run long, it is believed to be one of the earlier segments of the show. There is nothing to suggest that WWE has given up on Black or his new character.
Black returned to WWE television two weeks ago, though he has yet to have a match since his return. Instead, Black has aired a pair of vignettes featuring him sitting in a room and telling a story from a book. The stories are animated and feature Black talking about someone growing up knowing that he was different. There is no word on when Black will return to the ring.
Black’s vignettes have been pretty great. Check out how the first two have gone:
Opinion: This is both a bit deflating but also a bit of a relief as there is only so much that you can do when something is there for two weeks and is then gone in the third. If Black is back next week, things should be fine enough, though I’m only having so much reason to believe that he is going to be getting a chance. Either way, at least Black got a nice start over the last few weeks.
