Give the people what they want, even at Fastlane. Over the last week, no one in wrestling has been hotter than Kofi Kingston. While Kingston has been around WWE for a very long time, he’s only now starting to move towards the main event scene. That included a heck of a run in the Elimination Chamber on Sunday, but he couldn’t seal the deal. Now though, he has a second chance.

This week on SmackDown Live, Kingston was named the new #1 contender for the WWE Championship and will face Daniel Bryan for the title at Fastlane on March 10. Kingston pinned Bryan in a six man tag on Tuesday to earn the shot, a week after pinning Bryan in a gauntlet match last week. This will be the first time Kingston has challenged for the WWE Championship in a singles match.

Kingston was fired up on SmackDown Live. Check out what he had to say:

Opinion: It’s not like there was another option here. Kingston is on fire at the moment and is the only option that would make sense for the title shot. The main thing for Kingston is to get in the title hunt right now, as this doesn’t seem like it’s going to be a permanent main event promotion. I don’t know if he wins the title, but it’s 100% the right call and that’s what matters most.
