The delay continues. We are in the middle of one of the most confusing times in the history of professional wrestling. With the Coronavirus pandemic throwing everything up in the air, there is only so much that can be done. Every company from the small local promotions to WWE itself has been effected and that is going to be the case for a long time to come. That includes this coming August.
Over the last year, Bayley has dominated the SmackDown women’s division. Save for a less than week long reign by Charlotte, Bayley has held the show’s Women’s Title exclusively since May 2019 and there have been few instances suggesting that she is in any serious danger of losing it. Almost the entire time though, there has been one person looming over her title reign, and now that wait is being extended.
According to WrestleTalk.com, the original plans for Bayley vs. Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Women’s Title at Summerslam are being delayed. The match was planned for the show in Banks’ hometown of Boston, Massachusetts, but due to the city’s mayor not allowing fans to attend the show live, WWE is not running the show as they want Banks to receive a hometown reaction. There is no word on when the match will be taking place.
These two have a long, long history together. Check out a few parts of it:
Opinion: This makes me shake my head as Bayley vs. Banks has been built up for nearly a year already. It’s a case of them just needing to go ahead and have the match or drop the story. It wasn’t even that epic of a match in the first place as the two have fought several times before. Yes it’s the logical move, but waiting another six months or however long just for the right moment? I don’t see that being the best move.
What should be done about this? Who will take the title from Bayley? Let us know in the comments below.
