Injury machka. One of the more surprising moments at “Fastlane 2017” was Big Show nearly squashing Rusev by hitting three chokeslams and a KO Punch for the win in less than ten minutes. This was a bit confusing as Big Show isn’t the biggest star in the world, though we now have a bit more context to the loss.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter,
Rusev is set to undergo shoulder surgery and will be out of action for a few weeks, meaning he likely misses “Wrestlemania XXXIII”. While it’s not clear if that’s why Rusev took the loss like he did, it does seem to be the likely reason for the loss.
Opinion: That does explain a few things, though I have no idea why they even bothered to have the match in the first place if Rusev is banged up. Just let the show run a little bit longer and see if “Fastlane 2017” is somewhat better received. If Rusev is leaving, don’t have him go out in a bad loss like that. Or at least not to Big Show.
