According to Wrestling Observer Radio, a rumored ending for the match may see the same double knockdown that ended the match at Backlash earlier this month, with a twist of Styles wearing a cup and getting up to retain the title. Styles won the first match with a Styles Clash, the second match went to a double countout, the third match was a double knockout and the fourth match was a clean win for Nakamura. He was then allowed to choose the stipulation.
Make sure to look at how we got here. There will be a quiz.
Opinion: I really hope that’s not where they go. It’s a creative ending and something that would make sense given the story they’ve been building, but Nakamura needs to win the title. He’s been chasing it for months now and Styles has already lost to him. Another loss would make Nakamura look like a choker, especially in a match he got to pick. At least they’re doing something that makes sense, but this needs to be it for them with Nakamura getting the belt.
