She’s earned it. NXT is a unique wrestling promotion as while it does have a national television show, the real point of the company is to prepare its wrestlers for a move up to either Monday Night Raw or SmackDown. That is one of the harder things to do for any promotion but NXT makes it work. They might have done just that all over again with a major star.

NXT’s women’s division has been one of the higher profile parts of the company since its inception. It had a lot of influence on the current Women’s Revolution and that is the kind of thing that should be celebrated. The division has not stopped producing talented wrestlers and now it seems that another one of them might be on their way to the main roster.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rhea Ripley’s loss to Io Shirai on this week’s edition of NXT may have been her last match on the roster. A clean loss like the one Ripley had is the kind that is designed to write someone off of NXT, allowing them to move up. There is a chance that Ripley could be the final member of the SmackDown Survivor Series team for this Sunday’s show.

It was a heck of a showdown. Check out Ripley vs. Shirai:

Opinion: If this is the time for Ripley to be moved up, I’m almost scared to see what happens to her. She has long since been a huge fish in a small pond and that does not bode well for her future prospects in WWE. For some reason WWE has a very bad track record of moving someone from NXT to one of the main rosters. I would be very disappointed if that happened to Ripley too, as she is too good to waste.
