Well that was quick. A wrestler making their debut can be a very important moment, but they also have to follow up on it. Just appearing and then doing nothing after it does not work out that well and it can render a good debut useless. There are multiple ways to slow down a new wrestler’s momentum and that might be the case again with one of the newest AEW signings.
Earlier this month, Paige VanZant officially signed her AEW contract to become a wrestler. However, she will also be able to continue participating in outside sports, including bare knuckle boxing. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, VanZant has signed for a bare knuckle boxing fight in London on July 9 against an opponent to be determined. This means that VanZant may be taking time away from AEW to train, though it is not known when she might begin her hiatus.
Opinion: That is quite the fast move for someone who has only officially been around AEW for a few weeks now. VanZant might not be ready for her first match, but it would be nice to have her around and getting the fans ready to see her in-ring debut. Hopefully the fight doesn’t take up too much of her time, but you really can’t tell with something like this in an outside sport.
What do you think of VanZant? Who do you want to see her face first? Let us know in the comments below.
