He’s faced the facts. Back around the time of the new Brand Split, it was announced that Curt Hawkins would be returning to WWE. Hawkins had spent about eight years with the company before being released in 2014. His recent return has seen a new character and that has gotten him some attention.
Hawkins appeared on “Sam Roberts’ Wrestling Podcast” to talk about a variety of subjects, including a certain wrestler hiding in the locker room to avoid having to actually wrestle on the night’s show (Transcript courtesy of Wrestlinginc.com):
Hawkins also talked about how he wasn’t bitter about being released by WWE back in 2014:
“WWE fired me. I was there for eight years; I was on television; everyone knows who Curt Hawkins is; like, I’m able to provide for my wife and soon-to-be kid because of this, and like, go out on the indies, bust my butt, and make a name for myself in a-whole-nother way and that’s like a privilege. And I feel like bitterness against the WWE was pointless.” Hawkins said, “I wear my heart on my sleeve, so I can’t say that I deal with it well or not because it’s so grueling. The highs are high and the lows are freaking low, but it’s only because you care so much.”
Opinion: The more I hear from Hawkins the more I like listening to him. He really does seem to have a good head on his shoulders and doesn’t seem to think he’s the greatest thing to ever happen to wrestling. Yeah he was released but he got back on his feet, worked on the indy scene and is now back in WWE. It’s so refreshing to listen to someone with such a positive attitude and it needs to happen more often.
