Change things up a bit. This week’s edition of SmackDown Live was a special one with the 1000th episode of the series. The show was focused on nostalgia, along with some storyline advancement as well. With such a big show it was clear that there was going to be something interesting, as tends to be the case on shows like this. That was indeed the case, with some titles changing hands.
This week on SmackDown Live, the Bar defeated New Day to become the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions. The ending of the match saw the Big Show make a surprise appearance to chokeslam Kofi Kingston through the announcers’ table after Kingston broke up a pinfall attempt with feet on the ropes. After the match, Big Show posed with the new champions. This win marks the fifth Tag Team Title reign for the Bar.
How did they win the titles?
Opinion: There’s nothing wrong with the Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff title change for the sake of making a big show seem like something more important. The SmackDown Live tag team division isn’t the strongest in the world anyway so this title change was pretty long overdue The match was certainly entertaining enough and the teams have enough chemistry to make it work. That’s all the match needed to be and it did that just fine.
