Oh Snap? How A Broken Leg Opened The Biggest Door of A Monday Night Raw Star's Career

That’s one way to do it. There are many different ways to present a new star and occasionally it is not even by having them get in the ring. Occasionally the solution is to have them in a non-wrestling role and see what they can do otherwise. That was the situation with a star who debuted last year, and all it took to get her started was a broken leg.

Maxxine Dupri was a guest on the Out Of Character podcast where she spoke about how she got her start on SmackDown. Dupri said that she broke her leg last spring in NXT, where she was working as Sofia Cromwell. As a result of her injury, she wound up managing Von Wagner along with fellow manager Mr. Stone. She then heard about the role of Max Dupri’s sister being introduced and then eventually received a text, saying to come to SmackDown for the show where the sister would be debuting. Dupri debuted on as the sister that night and has since begun managing the Maximum Male Models as well as the Alpha Academy.

Opinion: That certainly is a weird story, but at the end of the day, Dupri is probably in a better spot than she would have been had she not broken her leg. Dupri is already a regular on Monday Night Raw and is getting to go out there and showcase what she can do. If she wants to get in the ring later on then cool, but for now, she is doing rather well with everything she is doing.
