They had plans. There are several wrestling families throughout the industries and some of them are among the most famous names in the business. Various families have certain things that make them stand out, including wrestling moves, attire or something else. Adding a new member of the family can mean a lot and that was almost the case again last year.
During an interview with WWE On BT Sports, NXT’s Solo Sikoa revealed that WWE originally planned to bring him up to the main roster and pair him with his brothers the Usos. Sikoa turned down the offer though, saying he wanted to be on his own rather than part of the team. During the next meeting, WWE began to talk about him as a singles wrestler. Sikoa made his NXT debut in November 2021.
"I don't want to be referred to as their brother, their cousin, I want people to recognise me for me."
"Before I debuted, they wanted to put me with the @WWEUsos, but they said 'let's see what you can do alone.'"@WWESoloSikoa on establishing his own legacy in #WWENXT ? pic.twitter.com/EQsEFi5IEn

Opinion: I can certainly give Sikoa credit for not wanting to ride his family’s coattails. He looks so much like the Usos that it would have been easy to tack him on as the latest member of the family but good for him for wanting to make his own way. I don’t know if that is going to be the best business move long term, but he is trying to do something his own way and it very well might work.
What do you think of Sikoa? How would he do on the main roster? Let us know in the comments below.
