After a Canadian final. As of earlier this week, the United States Title tournament final was scheduled to be wrapping up at the “2018 Royal Rumble”. Tonight though, that was changed to the finals taking place next week. That wasn’t enough either though and the finals were held tonight, along with the semifinals. So who won?
Tonight on “Smackdown Live”, Bobby Roode won the tournament to become the new United States Champion. Roode defeated Jinder Mahal in the finals after pinning Mojo Rawley earlier in the night. Mahal advanced to the finals by defeating Xavier Woods. The tournament was necessary after former champion Dolph Ziggler vacated the title late last year.
Here’s how Roode got to the finals:

Opinion: This was the only way they could have gone and there’s nothing wrong with that. Roode was banged up coming into the finals and it made sense to have him win in the end to complete a good story. There’s a good chance this leads to Roode vs. a returning Ziggler for the title at the pay per view, even though they flew through the last three matches at a faster pace than necessary.
Do you like Roode as champion? If not, who should have won? Let us know in the comments below.
