I guess they’re sticking around. There were a lot of things going on at this weekend’s Backlash pay per view. The show featured a bunch of matches and angles taking place, with one thing standing out as rather different from the rest of them. It was another cinematic segment rather than a traditional match, but there might have been a few changes that will stick.

The Viking Raiders and the Street Profits have been in an increasingly friendly rivalry for the last month and a half. This culminated in a bizarre segment at Backlash where the teams got in a fight but then joined forces to fight off a group of motorcycle riding ninjas, led by Akira Tozawa. The group also included a giant ninja, making it an even more bizarre segment. Things kept going on Monday night.

This week on Monday Night Raw, the ninja group appeared again, being defeated by the Viking Profits in an eight man tag. After the match was over, Tozawa and the giant ninja stared down the Viking Profits, with the Big Show returning to attack the rest of the ninjas. The giant ninja and Tozawa left before anything physical happened between them. This was Big Show’s first match since the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania 36 in April. The giant ninja is played by 7’3 NXT wrestler Jordan Omogbehin.

This was a bizarre one. Check out the wacky segment, plus the one that set it up:

Opinion: I know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it certainly is different and I think I’ll take that over everyone doing the same thing over and over. The announced Tag Team Title match for next week should mark an ending for the story, assuming the match actually goes down as planned. I’m not sure what to expect, but this kind of thing can only continue for so long before it bottoms out in a hurry.
