What’s out of a name change? There are a lot of things that WWE does that don’t seem to make a lot of sense. It might be a booking decision or changing someone’s status from NXT, but there are some things that are a little more simple than that. There is one thing that WWE does which doesn’t seem to make a ton of sense, and it seems that they’ve done it again recently.
This week on SmackDown Live, Andrade Cien Almas’ name was changed to Andrade, with no mention of the Cien Almas part. The graphics showed just the one name and the announcers referred to him just as Andrade during his match. There is no word on why the name was changed, though WWE has done this before with Rusev and Big E.. Apollo Crews was one just changed to Apollo before having his last name restored.
At least he hasn’t lost his in-ring magic. Check out Andrade’s first match under the new name:
Opinion: I’m not sure about this. If WWE just had to change his name, why not go with Cien Almas instead of Andrade? It’s not like the three word name was that bad in the first place either, as he was starting to stand out a little bit more when the change took place. It’s going to take some time before the name sinks in, though I’m not sure if it ever needed to take place.
