Well that makes sense. There are a lot of things going on in the world of wrestling right now, possibly more than at any given time in the span of a few weeks in a generation. With so many things going on at once, there are going to be some things that get lost in the shuffle. For once that might be the traditional biggest show of the week, but WWE is trying to do something about it.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is booking a Universal Title match for next week’s Monday Night Raw for the sake of making sure the show is not forgotten in the shuffle. Not only will next week see the debut of AEW on TNT and NXT running two hours a week on AEW, but it will also be the debut of SmackDown Live on FOX and Hell In A Cell running on Sunday. There will be a fatal five way #1 contenders match this week on Monday Night Raw.
This is where things are leading next week. Check out what it waiting for the Universal Title after next Monday’s title match:
Opinion: How amazing is it that we are coming up on a week where Monday Night Raw might be the fifth most important show? That has not happened in years (if ever) and that is where we are now. The Universal title match does not seem that interesting on its own, but it turns out that the show is needing something to help keep it afloat. That’s almost hard to believe but it’s what we’re looking at next week. Sounds great to me.
