This one is a long time in the making. As we head towards WrestleMania 35, one of the biggest will they or won’t they questions has been Kofi Kingston getting a one on one shot at the WWE Championship. Vince McMahon has moved the goal posts several times now but with so little time left before the show, it was time for something to be done and that was the case on SmackDown Live.
This week on SmackDown Live, Kingston finally earned his shot at the title as Big E. and Xavier Woods won a tag team gauntlet match to win the spot for him. McMahon himself confirmed the match to end the show. Earlier in the night, McMahon had said that Kingston was out of chances to earn the shot but Big E. and Xavier Woods could do it for him. The match will be Kingston’s first ever one on one shot at the title.
There’s only one place to go. Check out the final victory:
Opinion: You had to know that this was coming at some point, though I’m not sure if Kingston is going to win the title. They have a way to set up the New Day turning on Kingston for giving him the title shot while they did all of the work for him. You could go multiple ways with the story though now that we FINALLY have the match officially made. It certainly took long enough.
Do you think Kingston will win the title? Did the match take too long to set up? Let us know in the comments below.
