One more time? Commentary is one of the most important parts of all of wrestling, as the announcers are tasked with being the guides for the show. It can be very important to have the right people in the job, with the wrong team being more annoying than helpful. Now one of the most prominent commentators in the history of wrestling is talking about his future in the industry.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: About Him: WWE’s Hiring Of New Head Of Production Has Some Worried Backstage
During a recent edition of his Grilling JR podcast, AEW’s Jim Ross revealed that his current contract expires on February 14th. Ross said that he wants to stay with AEW and eventually end his career there. While Ross has not been doing full time commentary, he has made occasional appearances, including the main event of this week’s Dynamite. It it not clear when AEW will decide whether or not to re-sign Ross.
Ross has done some things for AEW. Check out some of his time there:
Opinion: This is about the only way things can go, as it isn’t clear if AEW will want to have Ross around. I’m not sure I can imagine him being a full time commentator, but having him pop in every so often can work well. Ross still has a lot to offer to AEW and keeping him in short bursts rather than full time appearances seems to be the way to go. There is something to him though and hopefully AEW figures that out.
What do you think of Ross in AEW? Will he re-sign? Let us know in the comments below.
