There’s a reason for that. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world but they are not the only game in town. There are several other promotions who can offer wrestlers national spotlights and that is something that some WWE Superstars might be interested in pursuing. WWE has some tools to keep its wrestlers around though and they are using some of them again.

Earlier this week, it was reported that WWE had signed both Dominik and Rey Mysterio to new contracts. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, while the exact terms of the new deals are not known, they are believed to be long term deals. WWE is said to be pursuing longer term deals for top stars for “greatly increased compensation”. This is reportedly due to WWE not wanting its top stars to become free agents.

Opinion: This makes sense for WWE as several of its wrestlers have wound up in AEW or elsewhere recently. While there are going to be some who just want out and leave no matter what, offering a good deal of money can be one of the best ways to keep wrestlers around. That seems to be their best idea here and it very well may work, as money can be quite a powerful offer.
