After all this time. Today’s wrestling world is an interesting place as you never know what you might get to see. With the internet and a variety of streaming services, there are all kinds of things that can be seen at any given time. WWE’s video vault is larger than any other and as luck would have it, they are pulling something out of mothballs for the first time ever.
WWE.com has announced that they will be releasing the infamous Tom McGee vs. Bret Hart match from 1986 on the WWE Network this coming Monday night. The match has been one of the Holy Grails of wrestling matches for over thirty years, as the match is considered to be the match that kept McGee around for years but was his only quality performance. WWE recently acquired permission to air the match from Hart, who owned the rights to broadcast it. A short documentary will accompany the match.
McGee is kind of a legend in his own time. Check out one of his only matches from WWE’s YouTube channel:
Opinion: For an old wrestling fan like me, this is something that I can’t believe we’re finally getting to see. Hart allegedly carried McGee to a great match and I’m curious to see just how good the match actually is. It wouldn’t surprise me if it is just a match where the people watching were so amazed by what McGee did that they blew it out of proportion. Just getting to see it is amazing though and one of the great things about being a modern wrestling fan.
